01 Who we are
Akasena (“Akasena”, “we”, “us”) is a software company building payment tools for individuals and businesses in Southeast Asia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.
If you have questions about anything here, write to contact@akasena.com. A person will read it.
02 What we collect
Information you give us
- Account information - your name, email address, phone number, and password or login credentials.
- Identity information - date of birth, residential address, nationality, government-issued identification documents, and a photograph or selfie where required for verification.
- Financial information - bank account details, wallet addresses, and information about the source of your funds where we or our partners are required to ask.
- Correspondence - anything you send us in a support request or email.
Information we collect automatically
- Transaction data - records of payments received, conversions, and transfers made through our service.
- Technical data - IP address, device and browser type, operating system, and timestamps of your activity.
- Usage data - which features you use and how you navigate the product, so we can improve it.
Information from others
Our identity verification providers, sanctions and watchlist screening services, and licensed payment partners return information about you to us - for example, whether your documents were accepted, or whether a screening check flagged a match. We receive and retain those results.
03 Why we collect it
- To provide the service - to create your account, verify you, and enable you to receive and move funds.
- To meet legal obligations - anti-money-laundering rules, counter-terrorism financing rules, sanctions regimes, and the requirements our licensed partners are themselves bound by. This is not optional for us, and it is not optional for you if you want to use the service.
- To protect you and us - to detect fraud, prevent unauthorised access, and investigate suspicious activity.
- To communicate - to send you service notices, security alerts, and answers to your questions.
- To improve the product - to understand what works and what does not.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to target advertising at you.
05 Public blockchains
This is important, and most policies bury it. Transactions made on a public blockchain are permanent, public, and visible to anyone in the world. Wallet addresses, amounts, and timestamps are recorded on a ledger we do not control and cannot alter. Anyone who links a wallet address to your identity may be able to see your transaction history.
We cannot delete, edit, or hide a blockchain transaction, and neither can anyone else. This is a property of the technology, not a choice we made. Please consider it before you transact.
06 How long we keep it
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is open, and afterwards for as long as the law requires.
Anti-money-laundering rules generally require identity and transaction records to be retained for at least five years after a customer relationship ends. This means that if you close your account and ask us to delete your data, we will delete what we can - but we are obliged to retain your identity and transaction records for that statutory period. We would rather tell you this now than surprise you later.
07 Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete information, subject to the retention obligations described above.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Receive a copy of your information in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent, where we relied on your consent to process information.
To exercise any of these, email contact@akasena.com. We will respond within a reasonable period, and we may need to verify your identity first - for obvious reasons.
08 How we protect it
We encrypt personal information in transit and at rest, restrict internal access to those who need it, and use reputable infrastructure providers. Identity documents are handled by specialist verification providers rather than stored casually by us.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
09 International transfers
Akasena (PT Akasena Digital Kreatif) is a company incorporated in the Republic of Indonesia, and our partners and infrastructure providers operate in several countries. Your personal information will therefore be transferred to and processed in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States, where several of our licensed partners are based. We take steps to ensure it remains protected when it moves.
10 Children
Our service is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
11 Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as our product and our obligations change. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top and, where the change matters to you, tell you directly.
